Los Angeles will host the largest ever Stand Down event in the United States. The 2015 Los Angeles Veteran and Families Stand Down is a 3-day event that brings together dozens of service providers from the public and private sectors to help vets with everything from housing and employment assistance to a variety of VA services to dental and other medical and wellness services, including acupuncture.
Acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) services will be organized by Emperor’s College, an Oriental medicine medical school based in Santa Monica, CA. The alumni, students, and faculty of Emperor’s College will be the sole providers of AOM services at the event and expects to serve at least half the 2,500+ vets that will attend.
US Vets, California Employment Development Department, New Directions for Veterans, and Volunteer of America, Greater Los Angeles are the lead partners for the event. Key backers and sponsors include the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Bank of America, California Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
